Recently retired Japanese slugger Takeshi Yamasaki stepped up to the plate
against a pitching machine dialed up to over 190 miles per hour for a popular Japanese TV show.
The results, available for the world to see on YouTube, come as no surprise.
I couldn't even see (the ball), a blown away Yamasaki said in Japanese
after asking for the speed of the pitch. He was told the pitch was fired at
307km per hour (190 mph).
He laughs and stumbles away from the batter's box in the made-for-TV stunt.
On slow-motion replay you can see the ball fly past him before he even has
a chance to put the bat into action.
The veteran of 25 seasons in Japan, Yamasaki knows his way around a fastball.
His 403 career home runs rank among the Top 20 in Nippon Professional Baseball history.
